THE SECRET OF A GREAT SEX LIFE REVEALED: TWO CUPS OF COFFEE PER DAY

Drinking just two cups of coffee a day could dramatically improve your sex life, according to a university study.

A University of Texas study found that men who drank two cups of coffee a day were 42 percent less likely to have erectile dysfunction than men who didn’t.

For an article in the American science magazine PLOS ONE, the scientists examined 4,000 men who drank caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea, sodas, and sports drinks and found that the result was the same regardless of weight, age, or blood pressure.

Scientists believe that it could be because caffeine triggers a chemical reaction that increases blood flow to the penis by relaxing the muscles.

But two cups might be the limit, as the researchers also found that the score dropped slightly to 39 percent in men who drink three cups a day.

It also doesn’t seem to have any influence on men who already have diabetes.

Prof. David Lopez of the University of Texas, Houston, said, “Although we saw reductions in the incidence of erectile dysfunction in men who were obese, overweight, and hypertensive, the same was not true in men with diabetes,” according to the Daily Telegraph.

Previous research has suggested that caffeine can enhance sex drive in women.

In a 2006 experiment on female rats by Southwestern University in Texas, scientists found that drinking coffee stimulated the parts of the brain that signal sexual arousal. However, this effect could possibly only be observed in women who did not drink coffee regularly.

Scientists have long debated whether too much coffee is bad for you, with some arguing that drinking more than four cups a day is dangerous because it causes restlessness, tremors, irritability, insomnia, and stomach pain.

But in March, a separate study of 25,000 middle-aged men and women prompt that drinking three to five cups a day could reduce the risk of heart disease or stroke.

Research showed that people who drank the least – and the most – of coffee showed the most signs that their arteries were blocked, dramatically increasing the chances of having a heart attack.

But not all forms of exercise are created equal, Goldstein cautions: Men who rode bicycles – on the road or at the gym – were almost twice as likely to be impotent as men in the general population. Researchers attribute it to continuous compression of the nerves and the blood supply to the penis.
